Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  • Strong understanding of the sustainability/ESG/Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) reporting and assurance landscape including key sustainability reporting organizations and their related standards and frameworks
  • Strong working/applied knowledge of the AICPA attestation and advisory standards
  • Willingness and ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with relevant individuals across multi-disciplinary Association teams, member committees and at key sustainability reporting organizations and other organizations such as standards setters and regulators, for example
  • Ability and willingness to develop sufficient working knowledge of new and emerging sustainability reporting, assurance and advisory related matters as needed to:
    • Understand all (internal and external) reporting requirements, both from a perspective of standards and frameworks and best practice.
    • Understand the impact and implications of ESG on business operations.
    • Drive adoption and implementation of ESG policy.
    • Understand strategic and business model implications for the business enterprise.
    • Identify service opportunities and develop frameworks and guidance to support members in public practice in the successful performance and growth of ESG-related assurance and advisory services
  • Self-starter and able to work without supervision
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to work collaboratively and build consensus within a team environment
  • Ability to apply decision-making and problem-solving skills to emerging/ambiguous and complex matters
  • Ability and willingness to proactively develop and maintain business relationships
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong research skills
  • Entrepreneurial aptitude for technical writing, developing events and managing multiple project deadlines

Required Experience and Education

  • Minimum of 8-10 years’ relevant experience that delivers strong understanding of the accounting profession, US and international financial reporting standards and auditing/assurance services
  • CPA license or CGMA and/or have completed an MBA or Master’s in Accounting

Preferred Experience

  • 5+ years developing technical accounting/auditing guidance 
  • 5+ years of public accounting experience performing sustainability assurance engagements for a variety of clients in various industries
  • 5+ years other relevant ESG-related professional experience
