Summary of Role
Support the VP Professional Standards and Conduct by leading on content creation, development, administration, dissemination and monitoring of CIMA’s ethics communication and responsible business strategy & programme both internally and externally. Act as CIMA’s thought leader relative to corporate responsibility, and support the corporate affairs team to embed best practice in CIMA’s governance globally. Responsible for maintaining and promoting the Code of Ethics.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
  • Develop and ensure implementation of the Association/MAPU strategy for ethics and responsible business practice working with the VP Professional Standards & Conduct and other teams as required
  • Develop and promote ethics communication strategy for management accounting.
  • Responsible for MAPU’s ethics collateral, including project management for development of key ethics tools and outputs including arranging the design, formatting, layout and production in a range of media and multi-media formats both print and online, sourcing and managing internal and external expertise/ support as necessary and commissioning reports and articles as necessary.
  • Independently writing and positioning internal & external ethics communications (including Ethical Lens, e-newsletter articles, blogs and social media discussion threads and messaging: Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn posts) and presenting to audiences when required.
  • Manage and improve internal communication across the Association globally, with staff (e.g. Contact Centre, Lifelong Learning, web team) as well as key partners such as tutors/ examiners in relation to ethics outputs and updates.
  • Maintain, develop and promote the CIMA Code of Ethics.
  • Provide support to members via the Ethics Helpline.
  • Develop and update the ethics area of the website.
  • Collect, collate and analyze relevant metrics to facilitate measurement of success against key results, including press/ social media coverage and web analytics.
  • Solicit, collate & analyse stakeholder feedback and prepare reports for reference by PS&C and other internal stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Maintain  the ethics helpline database & ethics section of Brand Hub
  • Research and prepare briefing notes, papers and reports as required to support ongoing departmental work and planning.
  • Responsible for raising awareness of ethics activities and obligations across the Association through internal communications, including the Source
  • Input into related ethics/ corporate responsibility initiatives as required
  • Provide information on ethics outputs requests by staff, committee members, CIMA
  • Support the development and delivery of key ethics outputs for current and prospective students, members and CGMAs
  • Planning and realisation of ethics events (together with VP Professional Standards & Conduct) and follow up actions including presenting and outreach work
  • Assist with any projects or work as may be requested by the VP Professional Standards & Conduct in relation to the expedition of departmental and strategic objectives
  • Together with relevant colleagues, and under guidance of relevant VPs, embed thinking on ethical and related corporate responsibility into the Association’s/MAPU’s governance globally.

  • Strong communication and influencing skills
  • Ability to develop strategy and implement work stream independently
  • Close attention to detail
  • Proven report writing, research & analytical skills
  • Proficiency with standard business software (MS Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as inter/intranet updates and social media outreach.
  • Ability to use Google analytics
  • Self motivated & proactive approach to work; ability to work with minimal supervision if required
  • Ability to act professionally and deal with people at all levels with high personal integrity, credibility and flexibility
  • Ability of work as part of a team
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • A positive attitude to learning, development & change

Required Experience, Qualifications & Education

  • Educated to degree level in related subject
  • Ideally 4-6 years related experience including:
    • Experience communicating to multiple audiences via different media
    • Experience report writing, including demonstrating analytical & statistics ability
    • Project management experience
Preferred Experience, Qualifications & Education
  • Experience working within a professional membership body
  • Able to demonstrate relevant work experience or understanding of ethics / responsible business issues desirable
