About the Role:

CIMA is looking for experienced accountancy professionals to play a principal role in the development and translation of assessment materials into simplified Chinese. The assessment materials are for our Digital Management Accounting (DMA) syllabus and examination marking of Chinese language versions of the CGMA Professional Qualification.

We base these positions at home with the occasional travel to our UK offices for meetings.

You will be accountancy qualified, be fluent in simplified Chinese and Mandarin and written and spoken English..

We prefer candidates with experience writing and reviewing assessments, but it is not essential for this role.

As a translator of DMA assessment material, you will complete a range of activities. These activities accumulate in the production of comprehensive assessments. Additionally, you will make sure they meet the necessary requirements of the published syllabus and are fit for purpose.

As a marker you will perform marking of CGMA Professional Qualification exams in simplified Chinese, following CIMA guidance and following allocation.

 

You Will:

  • Review and translate a variety of DMA subject matter questions, answers, and scenarios into simplified Chinese ensuring consistency with their English equivalents
  • Mark exam scripts written in simplified Chinese and English. These include live, practice, and sample submissions under the CGMA Professional Qualification. Follow the marking scheme issued by CIMA and work under the guidance of the Lead Marker.
  • Complete back reading, and produce a marker's report for the CGMA Professional Qualification
  • Work with CIMA team members and other suppliers/SMEs in providing guidance and subject matter expertise on related or ancillary tasks
  • Be available for mandatory training and standardisation Marker's meeting
  • Use exam systems to review questions and provide feedback
  • Be available to assist the Assessment Manager in responding to ad hoc (translation questions) queries received from students, tutors, and other partners.
  • You will use a volume-based pay structure dependent on available workload.
  • Appointment does not guarantee any minimum number of days' involvement in CIMA work. Please note that CIMA and the Association are offering these roles on a freelance contract basis only, not as direct employees.

You Have:

  • CIMA's CGMA qualification, or another relevant accountancy professional qualification
  • Marking and assessment experience, and could have teaching or curriculum/syllabus writing experience
  • Fluency in written simplified Chinese
  • Proficency in speaking Mandarin
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Experience of written and assessment translation
  • Proficiency in using IT systems and be willing to undertake training on using new systems
