Director - Employee Benefit Plan Auditing and Accounting
About the Role:
You will be the subject matter expert on employee benefit plan (EBP) auditing and accounting for the Association. Direct the EBP Audit Quality Center (EBPAQC) and the EBP Expert Panel while representing the Association with regulators and standard setters on EBP matters. You will report to, and partner with, the Vice President – Financial Reporting & Audit Quality. You will develop a strategy to serve EBP Audit Quality Center members, Association members and engaged professionals, and lead implementation. You will use a hybrid work schedule from our Durham, NC Office
You Will:
- Direct the EBPAQC and the AICPA EBP Expert Panel. Represent the Association externally on EBP auditing and accounting standard setting and regulations including public speaking, monitoring and advocating actions of important regulatory and standard-setting groups. Develop the Association's positions, testimony, and comment letters to influence standard-setters and regulators. Manage important partners including the Department of Labor Employee Benefit Security Administration's Office of the Chief Accountant, plan service provider and administrator groups and FASB.
- Develop a strategy aligned with organizational priorities to serve EBP Audit Quality Center members, Association members and engaged professionals. Evaluate the Association's market position in the EBP auditing and accounting space. Develop new ideas and solutions to meet the needs of the target audience. Exercise judgment in prioritizing the solutions that best maximize our strengths and opportunities while mitigating weaknesses. Operate with autonomy, taking responsibility for the team budget, setting performance measures and establishing team goals to guide strategy execution over the medium to long term
- Implement strategy to serve members and engaged professionals working in the EBP auditing and accounting space. Oversee development of the EBP content strategy, serving as technical lead in that capacity. Collaborate with multiple Association teams, coordinating effort to assure team goals are met. Develop and review content produced for Audit Quality Center members, Association members and engaged professionals, translating complex material for ease of understanding. Resolve impediments to strategy execution
- Manage your team in a manner that promotes professional development, empowerment of staff, Agile development, market-centric focus, innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
You Have:
• 10+ years in public accounting or comparable experience
• Experience with employee benefit plan accounting and auditing
• Certified Public Accountant

The Annual Salary Range for this role is: $150,000 - $180,000
