Summary of Role
Provide strategic support to maximise the impact of the Association’s Management Accounting (MA) thought leadership outputs and other content.
Is accountable for the planning and the marketing communications delivery of the key content themes and research across multiple channels.
Contribute to the delivery of assigned major projects such as the CGMA Innovation Agenda.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
Manage delivery of the Association’s MA research agenda
  • Manage the agreed process through timely delivery of theme outputs based on the business strategies and objectives, supporting the lead for each theme where appropriate.
  • Monitor the efficient and effective working of the process and recommend improvements as appropriate.
  • Manage contributors for theme outputs to ensure delivery to agreed timescale.
  • Manage the production of theme outputs including budget (print, online, events) all requiring consistency of content and brand messaging.  Where relevant, working in collaboration with other Marketing and Centre of Excellence colleagues and external contributors e.g. freelance writers, printers, agencies and proof readers etc.
  • Lead performance reporting and timelines for Senior Manager, Marketing Content and others as requested.
  • Collaborate and build relationships with teams across the Management Accounting Unit, the Regions and Centres of Excellence to ensure awareness of research work in progress and support implementation of local marketing communications activities and plans.
Leverage profile of the MA research agenda
  • Work with the Senior Managers in Content Marketing; Member and Employer; and Student areas to drive and develop content as a key facet of the Member Value Proposition.
  • Develop a deep understanding of relevant audience groups and their journeys in relation to research content.
  • Monitor competitor research content marketing communications activity.
  • Create, manage and implement the marketing and communications plans for each research programme theme via channel marketing structure and regions.
  • Drive internal communications to inform colleagues on content projects and launches.
  • Develop and maintain slide decks and collateral (internal and external) for the research and thought leadership programmes.
  • Lead the delivery of the marketing and communications plan for each programme/theme to include the development of content for supporting outputs e.g. flyers, social media etc.
  • Proactively explore innovative ways of leveraging CIMA’s thought leadership across all channels and to the organisation’s different key stakeholder groups, and work with colleagues to implement.
  • Maintain the thought leadership content on the website/Brand Hub and optimise relevant user journeys.
Evaluate impact of our content and research programme
  • Own the content master plan and content calendar; ensure content calendar is developed, updated and shared across the organization.
  • Manage and maintain the full list of content assets.
  • Prepare reports on metrics and KPIs for each MA research programme and/or content campaign.
  • Evaluate impact of activity to inform future developments.
  • Provide appropriate input to other MA Unit management reports as appropriate e.g. the marketing monthly report.
  • Deputise and / or Represent the Senior Manager, Content Marketing as appropriate.
Additional Duties
  • Ensure that research and thought leadership outputs are delivered within agreed deadlines and budgets.
  • Manage and drive content development projects.
  • Make recommendations for how best to leverage and deliver the research and thought leadership to the Association’s different audience groups. Develop the assets and communications to support.
  • Liaise effectively with colleagues across the business to plan, deliver and promote the MA research and thought leadership plan to meet objectives and KPIs.
  • Maintain adequate records and timelines for innovation and content activity.
  • Prepare evaluation reports for each MA research activity.
  • Undertake other responsibilities including relevant projects or tasks as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
  • In depth knowledge and understanding of content marketing products
  • Project management skills – able to prepare plans, monitor and report on progress; and ensure delivery within agreed timescales.
  • Ability to lead and handle complex multiple content projects with cross-functional colleagues effectively.
  • Tenacity, persistence and determination – must demonstrate ability to overcome obstacles to get things done.
  • Team-working skills – able to work effectively with colleagues at all levels across the global business to ensure delivery of plans.
  • Able to manage freelance contributors and suppliers e.g. writers and proof readers, agencies to ensure delivery of outputs of appropriate quality.
  • Customer orientation – able to identify, understand and meet the needs of the Association’s target audiences
  • Able to grasp the key messages of thought leadership reports to ensure that plans for dissemination and supporting outputs are fit for purpose. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good organisational skills and detail oriented.
Required Experience, Qualifications & Education
  • Degree level or equivalent.
  • Strong marketing skills and experience; digital and/or thought leadership/content specific activity.
  • Career to date in business or public sector with exposure to project management.
Preferred Experience, Qualifications & Education
  • Business knowledge – interest and knowledge in current business issues affecting management accountants.
  • CIM qualification desirable.
