Summary of Role:

Manages corporate communications for the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants’ family of brands. Accountable for the development and execution of strategic communication programs and campaigns to raise awareness and interest of the CGMA, CPA and Association brands among target audiences. 


Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

Corporate campaigns and programs (60%)

  • Plan, develop and oversee implementation of corporate external communications campaigns and programs to support the Association’s strategic goals and plans that positively raise awareness for the CGMA, CPA, and Associations brands to students, members, prospects, employers, volunteers and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure effective and efficient campaign and program management, alignment and consistent messaging occurs between Association staff involved in this effort.
  • Consult with internal clients and stakeholders to develop plans, strategy and create communications in support of strategic goals.
  • Project manage, or create, the development of enhanced deliverables in all communications channels and disciplines (such as FAQs, issues briefings, key messages, video, press releases, executive speeches, presentations, articles, case studies, blog posts, talking points, newsletters and/or promotional materials).


Communications (30%)

  • Manage a wide range of complex political, technical and culturally sensitive issues and serve as the primary point of contact to various working groups.
  • Assist in the management of and provide creative counsel for enhancing Association’s owned channels, including social media efforts.
  • Drive consistent communications, ensure technically accurate and aligned with organizational messages, tone of voice and goals.
  • Write and publish blogs and communications content on regular basis, contributing to local and global channels and outlets.
  • Build and enhance necessary internal and external relationships to achieve consistent and integrated communications, including working with and training volunteers to amplify messaging.


Reporting and analysis (5%)

  • Monitor and report on team monthly budget and variances associated with projects.
  • Collate and analyse current communications and messages and ensuring consistency.
  • Coordinate with corporate communications and campaign calendars.
  • Aggregate and share insights and success stories to update internal and external stakeholders.
  • Report on Communications and PR metrics and reporting in line with global team framework.


Projects, tools and resources (5%)

  • Manage vendor relationships and project-manage outsourced assignments.
  • Ensure that Association policy is fully and properly reflected in all communications.
  • Support functional operations and projects as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Campaign management planning, development and omni-channel delivery skills.
  • Research and analysis skills.
  • Understanding of media buying and optimization.
  • Experience in managing and driving agency performance.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, project management and time management skills.
  • Effective execution and management of communications efforts, including development of plans and tactics and coordination with team members and business owners.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Detail oriented with ability to maintain focus on the bigger picture.
  • Strong decision making/judgment.
  • Commitment to high quality work product and strong relationships with team members and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently and perform well under pressure to meet project deadlines and goals and resolve challenges.
  • Extremely strong interpersonal skills, ability to consult and bring internal “clients” to consensus, manage stress and conflict efficiently, and able to deal effectively with diverse groups.
  • Ability to build and manage relationships with subject matter experts, senior leadership and volunteers.


Required Experience, Qualifications & Education:

  • Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
  • Minimum 7-8 years’ experience in communications/public relations in a corporate or agency environment 
    • Experience working in a busy communications, campaigns or PR environment.
  • Experience in creating and delivering omni-channel campaigns, including advertising


Preferred Experience, Qualifications & Education:

  • Experience and/or knowledge of the accounting profession and/or the financial services industry. 
  • Marketing communications qualification.
  • Experience of dealing directly with the media.
  • Experience working for a global organisation.
