Summary of Role

Support product ideation, planning and market introduction to serve public accountants’/management accountants’ competency development needs. Support internal and external stakeholders in launching new products according to product strategy and achieve success in market acceptance of those products. Partner cross-functionally across the Association to understand market needs and assess related opportunities for new products and the corresponding business case for production..

 

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Support product development strategy to maximize revenue and enhance member value.

  • Collaborate cross functionally across the Association and with members of the profession to understand how market developments affect the profession and translate into resource needs.

  • Perform research on an as-needed basis for new products and product enhancements considering environmental changes, competitor activities, and market response to existing products.

  • Monitor and research the activities of standard setting, regulatory, and governing bodies as well as market and environmental developments to understand the needs of the profession.

  • Support the Senior Manager – Portfolio Management in identifying high level requirements for new products for product go/no-go decisions and build, buy, or partner decisions.

  • Attend scoping meetings, as needed, to ensure product specifications meet market demand and product strategy as defined by Senior Manager – Portfolio Management.

  • Continuously identify and mitigate risks and impediments to new product success.

  • Understand and support maintenance of competency models for assigned portfolio(s).

  • Support Channel Management and Development and Business Development teams to result in successful product launches. Continually seek feedback on channel and business development plans and performance metrics to inform new product ideation and development.

  • Attend and support product presentations at various internal and external committee meetings and gather feedback to support product ideation.

  • Maintain clear communication channels with internal teams to ensure efficient and effective processes are followed, expectations and goals are met, and quality is maintained.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  • Self-starter, confident with entrepreneurial aptitude, and ability to manage multiple projects of notable complexity and risk under tight deadlines

  • Business acumen with a market focused approach to business, and understanding of what drives product profitability

  • Market research and analytics experience with problem solving mindset

  • Ability to execute strategic initiatives

  • Ability to develop and leverage a network of prominent professionals for use in product development

  • Ability to analyze research and data to identify trends informing product development

  • Strong, articulate oral and written communication skills including presentation skills

     

Required Experience, Qualifications & Education

  • Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in product development including:

    • Experience and ability in identifying, scoping, and launching new products in a successful manner (e.g. timely, on budget, high quality)
    • Experience in meeting budgets and deadlines, and growing revenue
    • Experience managing relationships with prominent professionals
  • Bachelor’s degree

 

Preferred Experience, Qualifications & Education

  • Experience developing products and services for a membership-based professional association and  global audiences

  • Understanding of product development and scheduling for multi-format professional, technical, and learning products.

  • Product development experience serving the accounting profession

  • Demonstrated understanding of the accounting profession

  • CPA or CGMA designation
