Accountabilities & Responsibilities

Technical Content: Research and Application:

  • Support or conduct research projects utilizing public information and information obtained directly from CAQ member firms; help chart the strategic direction for CAQ research agenda and activities, assuring that research methodology is sound for studies referenced by the CAQ.
  • Identify and review extant research on key CAQ policy priorities to ascertain its validity; categorize research and provide/update high level summaries that can inform CAQ positions; and communicate findings to CAQ colleagues in Professional Practice, Stakeholder/Comms, and Talent groups.
  • Support Research Director in execution of commissioned research projects including drafting scope of work (e.g., project objectives, deliverables, and timelines) identifying potential researcher(s)/vendor(s) to conduct research and monitoring progress through to the publication of study findings.
  • Assist in the development of content for panel sessions at academic and other stakeholder conferences and webcasts, including drafting discussion guides.
  • Assist in the production of highlights/summaries resulting from academic and other stakeholder events as needed.
  • Present research updates and study proposals to the Research Advisory Board and/or ad hoc project task forces.
  • Support and promote engagement between professional and academic communities and other key stakeholders.
  • Support Anti-Fraud initiatives as needed.
  • Other duties as required.

Task Force/Project Management

  • Help identify key emerging issues facing member auditing firms and investors; manage resulting task force and project deliverables.  Where required, help craft or evaluate research proposals, studies, and projects to provide relevant insights and recommendations.
  • Assist in the development of technical content, tools and webcasts for auditors of public companies using a variety of resources and experts.
  • Ensure timely updates to the CAQ websites, working with the Communications team.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  • Proven ability to manage assignments involving primary and secondary research methodologies, analysis, and synthesis.
  • Strong communications skills, to include excellent writing skills.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and the ability to work well under tight time constraints to meet established deadlines.
  • High degree of organization with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a diverse group of individuals across organizations (e.g., CAQ team members, academics, stakeholders, and other policy and regulatory organizations).
  • Strong, positive interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate openly and effectively to CAQ staff, members’ staff, and other key stakeholders including AAA, ECI, NACD, FEI, and IIA.
  • Results-orientation with flexibility to quickly adapt to changes in priorities.
  • Self-motivated and objective, with a bias toward action. Embrace an entrepreneurial environment and spirit.

Required Experience, Qualifications & Education

  • Minimum 5 - 8 years academic, technical, or similar relevant research related experience
  • Advanced Excel and data analytic skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Accounting, Finance, Public Policy, or Economics major preferred

Preferred Experience, Qualifications & Education

  • Advanced/Technical degree emphasizing research and project skills preferred
  • CPA a plus
