Summary of Role
Represent and build awareness of the entire breadth of our the Association and profession including Management and Public Accounting.  Build the Management Accounting profile and CGMA reputation locally, drive student acquisition, retention and member retention, drive member value and engagement, and build stakeholder relationships. Support CPAs in international markets and increase member value through engagement activities. Generate leads with key employers and universities to build awareness and position products and services by teaming with Engagement & Learning Innovation to drive revenue growth.  Represent and support local advocacy activities in teaming with Global Advocacy.
 
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
  • Lead the regional team across Africa
  • Develop regional plans, budgets and strategies with SLTs, peers  and Africa regional board
  • Participate in the development of global plans and strategies with SLTs and other RVPs and VPs
  • Deliver regional and global targets set and approved by SLTs
    • To work in partnership across the Association to achieve global KPIs, and deliver KPI’s for the region
  • Accountable to the Senior Leadership Team
  • Accountability for regional budgets and financials
    • Drive achievement of efficient and cost effective financial targets
    • Implement operational best practices
  • Accountability for regional HR planning to ensure that the Association will meet its current and future HR needs for the critical success of its business in the long term.
  • Responsible for employee engagement within the region. Ensure that employees will be supported and nurtured in achieving their roles.
  • Responsible for Customer service and Satisfaction within the region
  • Member of the Africa Regional Board and providing secretarial support for the board
  • Key results, measure in terms of growing number of the Associations members & candidates, progression, retention and product sales
    • Revenue generation – for existing and new businesses and products
  • Ensure that brand, education, operations and professional standards policies are adopted and adapted where necessary, and that these are maintained and communicated for all regional activity,
    • Ensure compliance with employment legislation and regulations
    • Provide and maintain premises and associated facilities to include basic telephony and local IT within the global policy
  • To ensure that any registered companies representing CIMA or the Association within the region comply with all legislative and regulatory requirements
  • Understand and mitigate key elements of CIMA’s or the Association’s risk profile in the region. Report any identified risk issues to the Senior Leadership Team.
 
  • Identify potential that will maximise opportunities for the Association, in terms of generating revenue streams,  attracting, qualifying and retaining CGMA candidates and members and increasing CGMA /CIMA/ The Association brand profile
  • Initiate, develop and manage relationships with employers and other partners and potential partners within the region to generate new Association’s business
  • To champion, protect and build the brand and image of CIMA/CGMA/the Association within the region
  • Identify, evaluate and develop plans for areas relevant to the region
  • Identify key accounts and implement appropriate management relationships
  • Represent the Association within the region, as required, in professional, regulatory and other forums, including media representation
  • Manage any SLA agreements with Centre of Excellence team in the US and UK offices.

Required Experience, Qualifications & Education

  • Educated to degree level or professional equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of the career needs and concerns of students and management accountants and meeting those needs.
  • Significant operational and business development experience, with a good track record of working at a senior managerial level and successful relationship management
  • Significant people management experience, in particular managing and motivating large teams engaged in diverse activities but with a common goal
Preferred Experience, Qualifications & Education
  • Professional qualification / Degree in Business Administration
  • Strong people management and business acumen
