Summary of Role:

Lead communication and public relations strategies for the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants’ family of brands. Accountable for the development and execution of strategic communication programs to raise awareness and interest of the Association and its brands, goals, and strategic priorities among target audiences

 

Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee implementation of communications programs to support the Association’s strategic goals and plans.
  • Manage the creation of external strategic public relations plans and programs that positively raise awareness for the Associations brands, credentials, and resources to students, members, prospects, employers, state societies, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure effective and efficient program management, alignment and consistent messaging occurs between Association staff involved in this effort.
  • Consult with internal clients and stakeholders to develop strategy and create communications in support of their strategic goals.
  • Project manage, or create, the development of enhanced deliverables in all communications channels and disciplines (such as FAQs, issues briefings, key messages, press releases, executive speeches, presentations, articles, case studies, blog posts, talking points, newsletters and/or promotional materials)
  • Assist in the management of and provide creative counsel for enhancing Association’s social media efforts.
  • Manage a wide range of complex political, technical and culturally sensitive issues and serve as the primary point of contact to various working groups.
  • Ensure that Association policy is fully and properly reflected in all communications
  • Manage the policy review process and implementation with appropriate Association stakeholders.
  • Manage vendor relationships and project-manage outsourced assignments.
  • Conduct interviews, make hiring decisions, provide salary recommendations, monitor and assign work, develop employees; develop work plans and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Planning and management skills
  • Effective execution and management of communications efforts, including development of plans and tactics and coordination with team members and business owners
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Strong decision making/judgment skills
  • Commitment to high quality work product and strong relationships with team members and colleagues
  • Ability to work independently and perform well under pressure to meet project deadlines and goals and resolve challenges
  • Extremely strong interpersonal skills, ability to consult and bring internal “clients” to consensus, manage stress and conflict efficiently, and able to deal effectively with diverse groups
  • Extra hours may be required to meet deadlines
  • Ability to travel (post-COVID)

 

Required Experience, Qualifications & Education:

  • Minimum 7-8 years’ experience in communications/public relations in a corporate or agency environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, communications, Public Relations or related field

 

Preferred Experience, Qualifications & Education:

  • Master’s Degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Public Relations or a related field
  • Experience and/or knowledge of the CPA profession and/or the financial services industry
