Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • In-depth knowledge of the CPA profession and Section subject matter
  • Ability to represent the needs of the Section cross-functionally to other internal groups responsible for test development, maintenance, psychometrics, and testing
  • Ability to lead a volunteer Subcommittee in the oversight, review, and approval of the Section
  • Ability to lead cross-functionally with various professionals who are not CPAs
  • Willingness to learn, understand and develop requisite proficiency in test development and production, psychometrics, statistical analysis
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, manage work conflict efficiently across various professions, and deal effectively with diverse groups including bringing groups to consensus
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills
  • Motivated, flexible, organized, and committed to high quality work product
  • Leadership and management ability in a matrix-management environment with CPA and non-CPA professionals
  • Ability for collaborative constituent communications and management
  • Proven expertise with volunteers, boards, external constituents, etc.
  • Ability to set goals and expectations in areas without direct responsibility
  • Demonstrated passion for the profession
  • Knowledge of the profession (Section) and professional standards, laws and regulations as it relates to the Section

Required Experience

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in accounting related to the Exam section
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • CPA
