Summary of Role
 

Manage the planning and implementing of activities to identify new competencies required by our stakeholders, specifically employers and ensuring that the CGMA competency framework and Qualification framework balances the needs of employers, students, learning providers, the profession and the public interest.

Responsible for carrying out research, including critical interpretation of qualitative and quantitative data and translating this into the process and understanding issues around technical skills, behaviours and competencies as characterized by a finance professional.

 
 

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

 
  • Review, formulate and take a prominent role in the delivery of the syllabus development strategy and direction, particularly concerning the Competency Framework and Qualification reviews.
  • Significant leadership contribution to cross-functional projects that carry a strategic risk and other initiatives that will impact Management Accounting in the medium and long term.
  • Operate with significant independence on a range of operational activities, taking the lead on critical projects.
  • Act as a global ambassador for the Association, representing the organisation at meetings with external stakeholders and including academic conferences in the UK and globally.
  • Represent the department at other external meetings of strategic importance: including potential partnerships with other professional bodies and university relationships and act as a technical resource for validation panels and programme reviews if required.
  • Strengthen and manage relationships with key external stakeholders including senior finance staff in global and multinational organisations, tuition partners and academics
  • Map global employer competency frameworks to the CGMA Competency Framework and recommend changes as appropriate
  • Map our professional qualification against other qualification frameworks. Participate in meetings to influence accrediting bodies and regulators to ensure academic recognition of the Association’s qualifications are maintained and developed in the global markets. 
  • Communicate findings to the Senior Director of Syllabus Development and senior staff to influence delivery of our vision.
  • Develop and deliver communications/training in appropriate formats to ensure internal and external stakeholders’ have proper knowledge and awareness of the Competency Framework, the Professional Qualification and research implications
  • Manage and strengthen excellent working relationships within and outside of the Education Directorate; particularly with Examinations and Assessment, Research and Development, and Marketing, the more extensive Management Accounting unit, and with colleagues across the Association. 
  • Continually develop the reputation of the Curriculum Development Department as a center for educational intelligence and excellence. Influencing thinking in teaching and learning in education in the broader sense and follow through the impact on professional body accounting education.
 
 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

 
  • Ability to understand and appreciate the context within which the qualification is developed and launched, and ensure that it ultimately meets the needs of industry
  • Relationship management, at senior and executive levels, with key external stakeholders particularly in academia and business.
  • Public speaking/presentation ability with excellent verbal and written communication/influencing skills
  • Ability to operate with significant autonomy on a range of operational issues
  • Intellectually capable, robust and flexible, able to manage the expectations of demanding internal and external stakeholders to maintain a global standard within a KPI lead environment
  • Ability to occasionally travel to European and International locations as required to represent the Association globally

 
 Required Experience, Qualifications & Education
  • Minimum of a UK degree or equivalent or a partially qualified accountant, or educational qualification.
  • Preferably 5-8 years of relevant experience within a professional body or education environment and including prior direct involvement in curriculum/syllabus/course development and broader educational issues
