The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), globally founded in 1919 and is the world’s leading and largest professional body of management accountants.

CIMA helps individuals and businesses to succeed by harnessing the full power of management accounting – not just accounting for the balance sheet, but accounting for business. 

 

You will form part of a young, diverse and dynamic Marketing & Communications team that acts as the service platform for the Africa region, with its regional headquarter located in South Africa and business hubs in around 8 other African countries, including Botswana, Ghana, Nigeria, Zambia etc.

Our team drives constant awareness in media and markets to ensure that finance professionals choose the CIMA educational paths through our diverse marketing efforts (traditional, digital and event marketing campaigns) to generate new leads, help students through their progression stages and motivate the retention of students & members. Through focused Public Relations and targeted advertising campaigns the Marketing team establishes and continuously improves African-wide visibility and  strives to builds brand awareness & trust. We are the regional custodians of the company’s One-Voice-Policy concerning corporate identity, design and key messages. At CIMA, content is king! And this relates to all activities.

The careful conceptualization, planning and execution of several high-level events is a crucial component to this teams’ roles. This also means that the individual team members need to be effective and efficient in event & project management, are required to be team players, need to work across functions, operations and countries. Team members need to be able to rely on each other to achieve tough targets.

Even though we are office based and have normal office hours between 08h00 – 16h00 or 08h30-16h30 there are times, where projects require to work outside normal office hours. Flexitime is currently discussed by management.

 

 

Typical Day 1

  • The day starts between 08h00 and 8:30 am. You use the first hour to  check e-mails and respond to enquiries & requests of internal customers, following up on current projects and events and chase service providers with promised proposals, creatives, quotes, invoices and reports. Thereafter, you collaborate with global colleagues in the different centralized service hubs ie Marketing, Communications, Brand etc
  • An important element of each day is to connect and re-connect with your internal & external stakeholders, always obtain briefs & budgets to ensure proper planning and execution of activities and events and manage expectations.
  • Receive and evaluate monthly digital marketing campaign reports, discuss with the line manager. Check the RVP systems for respective events and report the status to your stakeholders

 

Typical Day 2

  • You spend the late part of the morning and early afternoon working on preparing, updating and reworking all aspects of marketing such print, digital and social media marketing and dealing with all brand projects such as corporate gifts, advertising design, banners.
  • There might be a conference ongoing and you have to take care of the event management. At the same time you ensure that you communicate key messages to the Communications Specialist so that she can work on a press release and Social media, blogs etc. and publish asap. Don’t forget to supply the visual ie photo, video clips to make it more interesting for our audience.
  • The mid-afternoon might be allocated to prepare for another upcoming event. This time in Botswana or similar. You get in touch with the relevant parties to confirm that all plans are on track. You design and build the invitation in the respective in house server and get approval before sending the invitations out via bulk mail. After each event you will prepare a satisfaction survey, as well as event reports to ensure that there is a continuous improvement in our processes and activities.
  • The last few hours you might review the regional website and up-date on a regular basis to ensure that this channel stays current and interesting.
