Technical Manager - Professional Practice - CAQ

Summary of Role
Manage and support technical and policy-oriented projects with working groups and task forces comprising representatives from the auditing profession.  Work with the CAQ’s staff of motivated, enterprising, and collegial professionals, to identify, develop and seek consensus on emerging technical and public policy issues affecting the public company auditing profession. Help develop thought leadership for an external audience on auditing and financial reporting matters.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
  • Work closely with and under the direction of CAQ leadership to prepare CAQ comment letters on key regulatory policy proposals issued by the PCAOB and SEC.
  • Develop technical content and thought leadership for new and emerging auditing and financial reporting issues.
  • Manages and coordinates activities and meetings of CAQ committees, task forces, and working groups involving member firms and stakeholders.
  • Respond to technical inquiries from CAQ member firms.
  • Engage with members of the profession and regulatory staff to foster a positive working relationship with the CAQ.
  • Develop and manage project timelines, keeping current on upcoming deadlines and necessary actions.
  • Attend public company auditing-related meetings and conferences and summarize and reports internally on relevant information.
  • Keep current on matters relevant to the public company auditing profession, both in the US and globally, and provides perspective on impact to the CAQ mission and objectives
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
  • Strong verbal communication, presentation, and writing skills
  • Ability to research auditing inquiries and analyze emerging issues
  • Proven ability to take initiative in problem solving by proposing possible solutions to senior management
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills and an ability to manage multiple deliverables
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully administer projects and timelines, including the ability to work well under tight time constraints
  • Demonstrated experience working in cross-functional high performing teams to meet deadlines and achieve established goals
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative work environment

Required Experience, Qualifications & Education

  • 6-8 yeaers of recent public company auditing or comparable experience
  • Working knowledge of PCAOB standards, coupled with a strong desire to broaden your technical skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA license
