Summary of Role
Resonsible for the creation and authoring of “documents,” “smart checklists” and other audit content in the Dynamic Audit Solution (DAS) Application using the CaseWare Cloud authoring tools. Leverages methodology and logic requirements designed by the Audit Methodology Team, along with technical designs and users stories provided by the Product Owner and Solution Architects.
 
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
  • Analyze, research, design, develop, debug and modify software products and applications. 
  • Create and maintain all levels of relevant documentation of changes.
  • Support the development, testing, and production in the CaseWare Cloud environments.
  • Perform daily health checks, performance analysis, tuning, installations, patching, upgrades, and monitoring.
  • Actively participate as a subject matter expert in application design/requirements meetings to analyze user needs to determine technical requirements.
  • Produce documentation in a manner that allows other developers to operate and maintain the systems being supported, developed, or enhanced.
  • Prepare estimates and schedule for development tasks for projects and enhancement requests.
  • Contribute to training materials and/or instructions for end-users.
  • Contribute to the identification of best technical solutions for provided business requirements.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of implemented software.
  • Understand how the organization’s applications interact with different systems and business processes to ensure they operate smoothly. 
  • Continuously analyze and monitor issues/problems with the focus of determining root cause and understanding patterns with the aim of improving the product, delivery methodology and overall organization.
  • Provide regular verbal and written communications regarding status, risks, issues, as well as making recommendations for remediation or change.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, key business users, colleagues, and external suppliers in order to provide a professional customer service approach.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively to both individuals and groups both remotely and in person, via verbal and written communication, in order to assist in the provision of a high level of customer service, including the provision of technical advice and guidance on matters using non-technical language when required..
  • Responsible for estimating work effort and building audit “content” into the DAS application.
  • Communicate with the Audit Methodology Team, independent development team as well as a team-based approach to operational procedures.
  • Responsible for coordinating with CPA.com developers, for programming support, as well as test automation support, to the DAS App Development               
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
  • Background/knowledge of  accounting and/or auditing
  • Advanced level knowledge of at least one software programming language (e.g. C#, Java)
  • Familiarity/experience with cloud-based technologies
  • Experience with Visual Basic for applications, or equivalent (including developing reports using Business Intelligence or report writing software, Excel/Office macros, and/or expertise in complex Excel formulas desired)
  • Relevant experience within accounting/auditing firms/technology companies (auditing experience is very helpful in order to understand the design, develop the solution, and incorporate into the platform to achieve the desired result)
  • Innovative and technologically experienced, willing to develop expertise in the CaseWare Cloud SE platform
  • Strong problem-solving skills, adept at critical thinking and managing complexity
  • Effective communicator and active team member
  • Ability to work independently and remotely
  • Able to do test development work and diagnose issues found
  • Ability to code software according to published standards and design guidelines
  • Ability to interpret written requirements and technical specification documents.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and resilient. Able to adapt to fast moving environment.
  • Proven track record of delivering high quality products in a timely manner
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to plan time effectively
 

Required Experience, Qualifications & Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field meeting minimum requirements
  • 3 - 5years’ experience in software development
 
Preferred Experience, Qualifications & Education
  • Some programming experience and fundamental understanding of related thought process
  • CPA
  • Accounting and/or Information Science/Computer Science Degree
  • Technology and software development background
  • Experience working with Agile/Scrum and/or other iterative software development processes
  • Certifications and/or course work beyond Bachelor’s Degree a plus
